Below are the official rules taken from the website https://www.snookball.fr/ registered trademark of billiard tables.
- It is a hybrid game that combines billiards and soccer, replacing the billiard balls with soccer balls and the billiard cue with a pair of shoes.
- Originally from France
- Played on a giant 3.6 x 6.6 meter pool table!
- has 2 variants - the game of 8 and 9.
- The soccer balls used are of 2 types of size 3: weighted white balls and unweighted colored balls.
The game of 8
Typically, games can be played in singles or doubles. However, feel free to have as many members on both teams! The more fun you have... or not.
Set up
As in billiards, 15 numbered balls are arranged in a triangle. The 1 ball is placed at the top of the triangle, and the 8 ball in the middle of the third row, leaving everything else randomly placed around the 8 ball.
How it is played
The player who pockets the first ball may choose which group of balls to target, solid or striped. The first player to pocket all the balls in his group, then the #8 ball, wins the game. During play, a player continues to play as long as each player pockets his own balls and commits no fouls.
Mistakes
- When the following fouls are committed, the opponent may play twice if he does not commit an infraction during the first attempt:
o touch the opponent's ball first
or the white ball does not touch the player's own ball
- If the white ball is pocketed, the opponent can place it anywhere for the next shot.
- Ultimately, a player loses if the cue ball is pocketed or leaves the table at the same time as the 8 ball, or if the 8 ball is pocketed before all of its target balls are pocketed.
Additional rules for a doubles (or multi-player team) match
Player rotation pattern during a doubles match:
- Player A of Team 1
- Player A of Team 2
- Player B of team 1
- Player B of Team 2
The rules are essentially the same as for individual games, except that members of the same team may assist the player in action by catching the cue ball and pocketing a ball from their target group. This is called a pass. However, for the pass to be valid, the cue ball must be in motion and cross the middle of the table before the second player deflects it. The pass cannot be used to pocket the 8-ball. An invalid pass will result in the opposing team being allowed to play 2 times.
The game of 9
Set up
In the game of 9, the balls numbered 1 through 9 are arranged in a diamond shape very similar to the game of 8: the 1 ball is placed at the top of the diamond, and the 9 ball in the center, leaving everything else randomly placed around the 9 ball.
How it is played
The 9-ball game is won by pocketing the 9-ball in multiple rounds of play each time. However, to do so, the player must always hit the lowest ball with the cue ball. Unlike the 8-ball game, the balls do not need to be pocketed in any numerical order! A player continues to play as long as each shot pockets a ball and no fouls have been committed, or wins by pocketing the 9-ball.
Mistakes
- When the following fouls are committed, the opponent may play twice if he does not commit an infraction during the first attempt:
or touch a ball without the lowest number
or the white ball does not touch a ball
- If the white ball is pocketed, the opponent can place it anywhere on the next turn.
- Balls pocketed during a default are not returned to the table.
